Artist Statement

I am  an independent artist in the Puget Sound area specializing
in creations using traditional  Japanese Washi Paper.

The natural beauty of  the Pacific Northwest has been my inspiration since
the early 80's.  My art  features native animals and plants as well as
favorites from my own garden.  I love capturing the splendor around me using
exquisite Washi paper.

Paper has always been my passion.  After traveling the world and
meeting new friends abroad,  I often created small Washi-Art to send
as gifts and thank you cards to my hosts and friends.  This is how my
love of paper inspired me to become an artist.

I want to share with others my love of art and nature through the beauty of  Washi
paper.   I never grow tired of working with the Chigiri-e method because
I never know exactly how the paper will respond to my manipulations.
Each project has a unique feeling and I hope the final owner will
enjoy my images for years to come.
